Scaredy Squirrel is a Canadian animated comedy television series based (very) loosely on the Scaredy Squirrel book series by Mélanie Watt. The series premiered on April 3, 2011 and ended on August 17, 2013. YTV ceased reruns on December 30, 2016, but as of March 27, 2017, the series is currently airing on Qubo in the United States.
Stacking, stacking, stacking... it's an obsession but no one can do it better than Scaredy Squirrel. Join this lovable, creative, and nerdy hero, as he tackles life's daily challenges. At first glance, Scaredy may seem geeky and quirky, but he's one cool, confident squirrel. Comfortable in his fur, he makes no apologies for his idiosyncrasies and quirks, and that make him totally awesome. Scaredy lives in Balsa City, and has the perfect job for a creative squirrel with a touch of OCD: stacking cans into elaborate displays at the Stash n' Hoard grocery store, but as far as Scaredy and his best friend Dave are concerned, the number one rule is having fun! And even when he's in trouble, Scaredy always tackles any challenge with enthusiasm and his own brand of quirkiness. In his spare time he is a huge paddleball fan and dreams of becoming the best paddler ever! A tribute to the great squash and stretch cartoons of the past, Scaredy Squirrel is all about making kids laugh today with a wink to what has come before.
- Even though this show isn't educational, the end of most episodes features a segment called "Scaredy Squirrel's Safety Corner," which provides nonsensical safety tips and morals from the episode we just saw.
- This was the only Qubo series to be featured on the 2012 incarnation of Cartoon Planet.
