Miss Spider’s Sunny Patch Friends is a Canadian children's television series based on the children's books by David Kirk. The series originally aired on Teletoon in Canada and Nickelodeon in the United States. A lush CGI animated series about Miss Spider and her buggy bunch of eight kids, based on the best-selling book series by acclaimed author and illustrator David Kirk. It's a fun family show that redefines surfing the web. The series encourages kids to appreciate the differences in others and promotes acceptance as it takes preschoolers on pint-sized adventures in a ‘big’ little bug world.

Premise

Miss Spider's Sunny Patch Friends is an animated program based on the beloved children's books by David Kirk. Each episode follows the everyday adventures of gentle, kind-hearted Miss Spider and her diverse family and friends and gives young viewers a bug's-eye-view of a whimsical, woodsy wonderland. 

The show touches on social and emotional themes that children will recognize from their own lives. The overarching theme is about the importance of getting along with others--our family, our friends, and members of our community. It is meant to serve as a model for children about how to go out into the world and learn to live with others.

Trivia

  • In 2019, Seasons 1 and 3 of the show were re-rated TV-Y7, despite the fact that the show was never meant for the TV-Y7 demographic. No reason was given as to why those seasons were rerated.
